When and where can we see the Aurora Australis?
The best time to see the Aurora Australis in Tasmania is during the winter months (May to August). While winter offers the highest chances, the Aurora can appear at any time of year. Clear, dark skies and low light pollution are essential for the best viewing conditions.

Are there bus services close by?
Yes. There are convenient bus stops within walking distance of Bayview. One is located near Lansdowne Crescent Café at the bottom of Poets Road, and another is near the West Hobart Express, close to the roundabout.
Are there grocery shops close by?
Yes — there are a couple of convenient options nearby:
- West Hobart Express – 750m (approx. 10-minute walk)
- Hill Street Grocer West Hobart – 1.3km (approx. 17-minute walk)

Do you have a luggage scale I can borrow?
Yes, we do. Please visit Reception and our team will be happy to provide a luggage scale for your use.
Do any of the apartments have stairs?
All of our 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom apartments include stairs. Floor plans for each apartment type are available on their respective pages to help you choose what suits you best.
Our 1-bedroom apartments do not have stairs. They are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Reception Building and are easily accessible via lift.
Do you have wheelchair-accessible rooms?
Yes, all of our 1-bedroom apartments are wheelchair accessible. There is a ramp leading up to the main building, as well as lift access that takes you directly to your floor for added convenience.
Do you have walk-in baths?
Yes, some of our 1-bedroom apartments feature walk-in baths. As these are limited, please call us or add a note to your booking request so we can place you in a room that best suits your needs.
Can I know the configuration of the apartments?
The floor plan for each apartment type is displayed under the list of room amenities on its respective page, making it easy for you to visualise the layout before booking.
How much is parking?
Our parking is free for all in-house guests.
Do you have a parking space for a caravan or trailer?
Yes, we do have limited space available for longer vehicles. We recommend giving us a call a few days before your stay so we can reserve a suitable spot for your arrival.
Are the apartments fully self-contained?
Yes, all of our apartments are fully self-contained, offering everything you need for a comfortable and convenient stay. Each apartment features a well-equipped kitchen, spacious living areas, and essential amenities so you can relax and feel at home throughout your visit.
How far is Bayview Villas from Salamanca Market?
Bayview is approximately a 7–8 minute drive from Salamanca Market.
Is the accommodation suitable for families and big groups?
Absolutely! Our apartments are ideal for families and larger groups, with spacious 1, 2 and 3-bedroom options and self-contained living spaces. We also regularly host school groups and sporting teams, making us a great choice for group stays.
